DESIGN/BUILD
In 2015, as a part of Yestermorrow's Design/Build Semester Program, Olivia Loeffler and fourteen other students were tasked with designing and building an architecturally innovative structure with an emphasis on sustainability.
This structure was commissioned as a joint library and Scholar in Residence housing for Dr. Janaki Natarajan of Marlboro College, who specializes in social justice and education. The building was built on the Yestermorrow campus and delivered by crane and truck to its final site on Janaki’s land in Putney, VT.
While all members of the team had a hand in all aspects of the building, Loeffler specialized in manufacturing scale physical models, exterior design and materials, wall framing, designing for accessibility, blown cellulose insulation, and immersed herself in all phases of electrical work.
